India and Japan have unveiled a new economic partnership framework and a defence pact following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The two countries also announced a joint roadmap for economic security, expanded cooperation in semiconductors, quantum technology, and energy, and launched the India-Japan Bio-Gas Initiative to establish 1,000 bio-gas plants across India. The announcements further strengthen the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations as they approach 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.
