Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that 60 new-generation trains will be inducted into the Kolkata Metro over the next 4–5 years as part of a major modernization initiative. He said the new trains will significantly improve passenger experience and transform Kolkata's metro network. Vaishnaw also highlighted ongoing works in the Chingrighata area and other metro sections, stating that their completion will enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and improve mobility across the city.
