Germany has removed the airport transit visa requirement for Indian nationals travelling through German airports to third-country destinations, effective June 3, 2026. Announced by the German Embassy in New Delhi, the move follows German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's visit to India earlier this year and aims to strengthen India-Germany relations. The exemption is expected to make international travel easier for Indian students, tourists, business travellers, and professionals while enhancing people-to-people ties, mobility, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
