West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the historic Taraknath Temple in Tarakeshwar and announced plans to upgrade its infrastructure, promote it as a major religious tourism destination, and give the temple a saffron-themed makeover reflecting Sanatan traditions. Speaking after offering prayers to Lord Shiva, Adhikari highlighted the temple's spiritual and historical significance, recalling Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee's 1946 resolution in Tarakeshwar that supported Bengal remaining part of India. He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to preserving the shrine's heritage while accelerating development in the region.
